Cherepovets museum association
Cherepovets museum association was founded on the basis of the local lore museum, its sections and branches in 1989. Museum is more than 100 years old. Now Cherepovets museum association is a big complex of museum expositions with united collection of monuments making 1/3 of the museum stock of Vologda Oblast.

Museum of history and local lore
The museum is located in the building especially built for these purposes in 1928. The museum exposition represents the history of the city development fr om ancient times trill nowadays. Arms and equipment of the 18-20th century, female dresses and peasants’ sundresses, anti-aircraft cannon and aviation bomb of the times of World War II, a model of the first blast-furnace, a cell of the monk ofthe Cherepovets Ascension church, interiors of the dwelling apartments of 1930-1950-s are demonstrated in the exposition. The modern city is represented very figuratively.
Museum of archeology
Museum of archeology introduces visitors to the history of archeological investigation of the area, its basic archeological monuments, unique exponents brought to the museum stock as a result of archeological excavation works.
Museum of nature
Museum was opened in 1920. Today the museum possesses wonderful collections of entomology, paleontology, geology; collections of minerals, rocks, herbariums of big scientific value.
The museum started its activity in 1988. It settles a number of education tasks focusing on children of different age and families. There is an ethnographic exposition in the museum. The exposition is amplified with role-playing. Children are engaged in modeling and making amulet dolls.
Museum of art
The museum was opened in 1992. Two permanent expositions are placed in two exposition halls – «Russian orthodox art of 14-19th centuries» (Russian icons, facial stitching, manuscripts and old books, foundry, enamel) and «Russian art of 18-20th centuries» (original works of famous Russian painters, furniture, fancy porcelain, glassware, bronze). Under the museum a small gallery of modern art, where works of Cherepovets and other painters are exhibited, is formed.
Museum of Vereshchagin
The museum is located in a 2-storeyed building wh ere a famous Russian painter Vassily Vereshchagin was born. The exposition is devoted to the life and activity of the painter and his family. The first exposition of the museum was opened in 1984. Now the museum represents a city provincial manor including a lord’s house and servicing buildings: a coach shed, a bath-house, an arbour, a well and etc. On the territory of the museum there are flowerbeds and an orchard with ornamental and fruit trees and bushes.
Museum «House of Ivan Milyutin»
The museum was opened in 2006. The museum exposition is devoted to the head of the city Ivan Milyutin who was born in Cherepovets in the 19th century and worked in the field of public activity half a century. Ivan Milyutin (1829 – 1907) was a merchant, industrialist, outstanding public person who took an active part in legislation work and in practical introduction of great reforms of the 60-s of the 19th century. In the museum there is an exposition devoted to the life and activity of Ivan Milyutin. Different parties and business meetings are arranged in the museum.
Museum of history and ethnography «Manor of the Galskoys»
Manor of the Galskoys is the monument of architecture, history and culture of the 19th century. It is unique being one of the rare examples of preserving a manor with the system of outdoor and economic constructions (stables, servants' log huts, two barns, a butter mill, a garden and saddler’s workshop) in the city surroundings. In 1989 on the territory of the manor a museum of history and ethnography was founded.
Museum of literature
The museum was opened in 1996. The museum exposition is devoted to the life and activity of the famous Russian poet Igor Severyanin (Igor Lotarev by birth, 1887 – 1941), who was born in Petersburg but most part of his childhood and teen-years spent in Cherepovets.
