Kharovskiy museum of history and art
In 1967 a local lore museum was founded in Kharovsk city which collection started from the gift – a personal collection of numismatics, pictures, ethnography, in total 500 units of stock - presented by the museum founder, first director on the voluntary basis Stepan Morozov. In 1989 the museum was closed for renovation till 1999.
In 2000 the museum was opened again. The museum is a scientific, research and education establishment, a state depositary of artistic, literary and other monuments of memorial and spiritual life.
Now there are about 7.5 thousand museum units including the basic and scientific subsidiary stock. Most exhibits were either presented by the local people or brought from ethnographic expeditions.
Expositions:• Collection of archeological excavations from Borovikovo settlement.
• Exposition «Russian log house» devoted to the centuries-long traditions in everyday life and work.
• Exposition «Life and activity of Vassily Belov». In the exposition a cabinet of the famous Russian writer is recreated similar to his cabinet in the native village Timonikha. Personal things brought from Timonikha village, manuscripts, portraits of his mother and father are presented in the museum.
