The closing ceremony of VIII VOICES Film Festival was held in the Lenkom Cinema
The 8th VOICES Film Festival ended on the 7th of July. The Closing Ceremony was held in the "Lenkom" cinema. The Jury deliberated and named the Winning Film, receiving the Grand Prize. This year it is the film by Fien Troch "Home" (Belgium).
VOICES Film Festival has become a bright colourful event for the citizens of Vologda, the Russian and foreign cinematographers.
During the Festival, citizens of Vologda and the guests of the Festival have seen many European films. Most of them were presented by their film directors, actors and producers.
The 8th edition of the Voices Festival welcomed the newest European movies and popular foreign and Russian filmmakers. The competition gathered 6 first and second feature films from all across Europe - Fortuna (Switzerland, Belgium), Home (Belgium), Daybreak (Albania), Bandits in Search of Mom (Serbia), Michael Inside (Ireland) and Your Tutor (Russia).
This year the winner of the Grand Prize is Fien Troch, the Film Director of "Home". Anton Kolomeets (Your Tutor, Russia) was awarded with the "People's Choice Award". Frank Berry was awarded with the Best Director Award (Michael Inside, Ireland). Kidist Siyum (Fortuna, Switzerland, Belgium) left Vologda with the Best Actress prize.
The Jury of the VOICES included Russian actress Irina Gorbacheva, French film producer Charles-Evrard Tchekhov, Irish director, producer and screenwriter Johnny O'Reilly. The President of the jury was the Russian director, producer, screenwriter Alexei Fedorchenko.
The 2018 edition featured a focus on Balkan states - Albania, Croatia, Romania, Slovenia, Serbia, Greece, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Festival goers had the opportunity to see an interesting programme of films, as well as to attend different master classes and round-tables with cinema industry professionals.
As always the organizers of the festival prepared different workshops, interesting exhibitions and the traditional Picnic. Lectures about art, urbanism, journalism, dance workshops, activities for adults and children, book fair, street kitchen, VR cinema and much more attracted Vologda’s residents and guests of the city.
