It also offers a comprehensive program for tourism professionals including a unique combination of educational sessions, countries presentations, seminars and networking events.
Vologda’s experts led by Deputy Governor Oleg Vasiliev arrived in Moscow to present tourism opportunities of the Vologda Region – places of interest, winter tours, holiday centres. The visitors to the international exhibition will be able to learn about Silver Necklace of Russia, a unique tourism product (brand) consisting of chain of routes crossing ancient Russian cities with unique historical and cultural heritage of Northwest Russia. The Silver Necklace of Russia is a tourist project across 11 regions of the Russian Federation. Eight cities of the Vologda Region are part of the Silver Necklace of Russia project. They are Vologda, Cherepovets, Belozersk, Tot’ma, Veliky Ustyug, Vytegra, Kirillov and Ustyuzhna.
The focus is also on a project «Veliky Ustyug – Hometown of Ded Moroz» that was initiated in 1998. A twenty-two hour train ride north-east of Moscow brings you to the town of Veliky Ustyug, hometown of Ded Moroz, Russian Santa Claus. Ded Moroz lives in his wooden palace in the pine forests at Votchina on a cliff above the Sukhona River. This character is straight out of Russian folklore.
