New Year capital of Russia is ready for the festive events, which will be held from December 28 to January 8 in the city and nearby tourist sites.

The main ceremonial events begin in Vologda on December 31 when Russian Ded Moroz arrives in Vologda. Residents and guests of Vologda and artistic groups will be greeted by a wizard in 11.00 at the railway station.

On the afternoon Russian Ded Moroz will visit the Kremlin Square. At 15.30 together with the children, he will paint a picture of “Vologda is Russia’s New Year Capital”.

At 18.00 Russian Ded Moroz will start the ceremony of lighting the main Christmas tree on Revolution Square.

Theatrical performance will be held on the evening of the Kremlin Square. One of the major surprises of the New Year will be the light show “Russian patterns” on the walls of the Vologda Kremlin. At 22.00 jazz singer Olga Khilko will perform “New Year's overture”. On stage will also perform music and dance groups of the country. New Year's greetings of the President of Russia will sound at 23.55. Firework take place at midnight on the Kremlin Square. In 2.00 it will be held at the Revolution Square.

11.00 – Ceremonial meeting of the Russian Ded Moroz at the railway station.
15.30 – The walk of Russian Ded Moroz on the Kremlin Square. Together with the children (all comers) Ded Moroz will paint a picture of “Vologda is Russia’s New Year Capital”.
17.00 – Start of the New Year program on the Revolution Square. With the participation of Russian Ded Moroz “greatest choir” (everybody sing) perform the song “The forest raised a Christmas tree”.
18.00 – Official ceremony of the lighting of the main Christmas tree in the Revolution Square.
22.00 – Theatrical performance and a concert at the Kremlin square. Fireworks will be held at the midnight.
1.00 – New Year program on the Revolution Square.
