The traditional Shalamov Days timed to the anniversary of the writer’s death (on January 17, 1982) will begin in the Vologda Regional Universal Scientific Library on January 16. Literary critics and researchers of Vologda and Moscow will present new editions of Varlam Shalamov’s works.

The presentation will be about Shalamov’s new collected works issued in seven volumes (“Terra”, 2013). Special attention will be paid exactly to the seventh additional volume that contains the works that haven’t been published before. The meeting will take place in the hall №12 at 1 Maria Ulyanova Street at 17:00.

“Events of the second day will be held in the Shalamov’s House on January 17. The editorial board of the website shalamov.ru, literary successor of the Vologda’s writer Alexander Rigosik and other researchers will gather at a literary evening. They will see the new exposition of the memorial museum of Varlam Shalamov”, said Elena Busanovskaya, employee of the Educational Programs Department in the Vologda Regional Universal Scientific Library named after I.V. Babushkin.

The Shalamov Day will last till January 18. The scientific seminar “Topical Problems of Textual Criticism of Varlam Shalamov’s Works” will be held in the museum at 11:00. Philologists and students of universities are invited for this event.
