On May 13th – 28th, 2010 DAYS OF SLAVIC WRITTEN LANGUAGE AND CULTURE will
take place in Vologda Region
On May 24th in the memory of the enlighteners and preachers of Christianity
Saints Cyril and Mephody equal to apostles a state church holiday – Day of
Slavic Written Language and Culture is celebrated in Russia. Events timed to
this date will be held in the region on May 13th-28th, 2010.
The program is informative and diverse: concerts, literary presentations,
master classes on ancient Russian singing, charity actions, theatrical shows,
exhibitions and meetings with interesting people. All events are of moral
and education character. The holder is Vologda Region Department of Culture
and Cultural Preservation.
The most vivid events of the Days will be the XII-th Vologda Regional
festival of Orthodox singing (the founders are Vologda Region Department of
Culture and Cultural Preservation and Vologda Eparchial Department) and a
festival of Orthodox culture “Meeting in Pokrovskoye” in the memory of
prelate Ignati (Bryanchaninov) (the founder is Vologda Region Department of
Culture and Cultural Preservation.
The concerts of the XII-th Open Vologda Regional festival of Orthodox
singing are to promote revival of Orthodox spiritual culture of the society
and devoted to the memory of Archimandrite Matphey, regent of the Holy
Trinity –St.Sergius lavra, died in September 2009. The participants of the
festival will be temporal, church, professional, amateur, youth, children’s
choirs and groups of the cities and districts of Vologda oblast and invited
guest groups.
Festival “Meeting in Pokrovskoye” is to strengthen spiritual and moral basis
of society by perception and mastering traditional Orthodox culture,
development of creative potential of Orthodox-oriented creators and
performers of works of art, development of scientific, research and
education activity for studying history and culture of our land. The main
task of the festival is education.
In the frames of the festival there are master classes, round tables and
educational readings on topics applied to Orthodox, contests of children’s
art on Orthodox subject, performances of guest groups – participants of the
festival on the concert stages of the city Vologda and Vologda oblast,
exhibitions, master classes of the leading Russian experts in the sphere of
art history and musicology, creative meetings. All events are of moral and
education character.
