Vologda became New Year’s Capital of Russia

Festive events in Vologda will begin on December 28 and will last till January 8. It is worth reminding that Vologda will become the New Year’s Capital of Russia. This large project of the RF Ministry of Culture started last year when Kazan was named the first New Year’s Capital of our country.

To confirm this status, a program of events that will be held in Vologda during the New Year’s holidays is being made now. All main cultural and sports grounds of the city will be involved in the celebrations.

Head of the City Yevgeny Shulepov wrote in his blog: “The title of the New Year’s Capital is not a symbolic status. We must confirm it and create such festive atmosphere so that it could be interesting, merry and cosy for local residents and guests of the city there. I can say that every day’s program will be full of various events and interactive shows. We will use all experience that we have gained over the last time when decorating the city. We will install our largest Russian slide beforehand – it is perfectly safe and soon people will be able to have fun there”.

An unusual fairy performance will be prepared for people in the Kremlin Garden (the former park of the Vologda Railway Carriage Repair Works) and in the embankment of the Vologda River. An ice show will take place on the “Locomotive” stadium.

Interesting programs will be held in the Bryanchaninovs’ country estate, the Museum of Architecture and Ethnography in the village of Semenkovo, the Einstein Museum of Interesting Sciences, the Centre of Active Rest and Tourism in Striznevo, and in the exhibition ground of wooden house-building “Vologda’s village”.

The celebrations will certainly culminate in the New Year’s Eve. Best groups of Vologda and invited Russian stars will perform in Kremlin Square.
