According to Alexander Suvorov, the general director of Vologda State Historic and Architectural Fine Arts open air Museum, it can worthily represent Vologda lace in other countries. “The book has an unusual format, a bright design, with its 142 pages comprising the whole history of Vologda lace-making” – he said.

There was a release of 2000 copies, with 1400 in Russian, and 200 in each of the following languages – French, German and English. The book was created within the framework of a long-term aimed program “Development of Vologda lace-making”.

The book “Vologda lace” is the chronicles of Vologda lace history from its nascence to the present days. The landmarks of its development are described in a detailed way in the articles of Marina Sorokina, a candidate of art history, a leading researcher of State Russian Museum folk art department, Angelina Glebova, the manager of the fine arts department of Vologda open-air museum and Yulia Evseeva, the manager of Museum of Lace. Nowadays a great work to make lacemaking more popular is being done, this information you also can fine in the book. Despite the fact that the book is a scientific research work, it may be interesting to everyone.

A greater effect is brought by the photos: pictures made by correspondents from the Museum opening in 2010 and from I International Lace Festival VITA LACE ( 2011), the photos of the rooms and expositions of the Museum, the pictures of exhibit items, including those which are not yet displayed. The archive photos with Vologda artists and lace makers which a whole section of a book is devoted to also generates interest. In the photos you can see samples of golden and threaded laces, pieces made by lace makers in XIX- the beginning of XX centuries. According to the Museum workers is it the most complete and extensional edition devoted to lace art, which doesn’t have analogy among books of this kind. It took a year for the Museum workers to make this book.
